Benchmade Bugout 535BK-2 EDC Review

The Bugout is a full-function, full-size knife that has been designed to be as light as feasible. It stands out in this way. It has virtually all the performance of a full-size, everyday knife, yet it weighs significantly less than its closest competitors. The Bugout is the best we have found for all outdoor adventures. There are lighter knives available, but they have significantly reduced utility or durability when compared to the Bugout.
Benchmade Bugout 535BK-2 Features
The Benchmade Bugout Black 535BK-2 is a pocket knife that is very light. The 535BK-2 Bugout aims in general for hikers who mind every gram they carry. Benchmade achieved a great deal of success with a knife that weighs 1.8 oz (51 gr). The plain Drop-Point blade measures 3.24 inches (8.23 cm) in length. The Bugout is the perfect tool for opening parcels, starting a fire, preparing meals, or making feather sticks. But it will not shy away from heavy tasks as well. What more do you want from an EDC Knife?

This updated version of the Bugout is awesome in its own right. Benchmade has decided to use a smoother black Cerakote coating this time. Opposed to the matte black-grey coating that the company uses on the Bugout 535GRY-1. For the blade, Benchmade sticks with premium CPM S30V steel. The steel has a hardness of 58-60 HRC. The blade is very thin, making it ideal for example if you want to peel an apple. CPM S30V steel is particularly resistant to rust, and it holds its edge well. This blade is simple to sharpen, even after you use it for a long time. The knife comes with LifeSharp. The LifeSharp service guarantees that Benchmade will re-sharpen your knife to a factory edge for free, for the life of the knife. You only have to send the knife to Benchmade, and they clean, oil, adjust and re-sharpen it for you.

Benchmade Bugout 535BK-2 EDC Handle
Instead of Grivory Benchmade opted for CF-Elite as the material used for the handle of the 535 Bugout. This handle material is made of polymer and strengthened with carbon fiber. It is a material that was first utilized in the automotive and aerospace industries because of its exceptional strength. CF-Elite is at the same time lighter and fifty percent more strong than Grivory. That is right, you read it right; it’s even less heavy. What else could you ask for?

Benchmade has incorporated steel plates at the front of the handle. This provides extra stability around the locking mechanism. In its default configuration, the Axis lock has a bolt made of steel. Benchmade chose to use titanium for this component. A good decision because of its low weight compared to steel. At the end of the handle, you find a lanyard attachment point for retrieval and retention.

The deep-carry pocket clip on the Benchmade Bugout 535BK-2 EDC is a fraction of an inch shorter compared to the clip on most other versions. The use of less steel results in a reduction in weight. Another detail on this pocket knife that has been given a lot of careful consideration. You can attach the clip to either the left or the right side of the handle. You can carry the knife on your preferred side if you are left-handed or right-handed. My friend was not happy with the clip. He attached a longer one. For me, it is just perfect. Since the clip holes are standard, you can find a lot of others to select from if you like.
