Benchmade 202 Leuku Handle
Benchmade has spared no effort in ensuring the Leuku is one of their most long-lasting knives. The handle of a traditional Leuku is typically made of wood. Benchmade chose Santorpen for this knife. This is a synthetic material that stands up well to rough handling. Additionally, it has a very pleasant feeling in the hand. It maintains its ability to provide a comfortable grip even when wet. The handle has a smooth surface with a light texture, contributing to this.
The Blade
The Benchmade 202 Leuku fixed blade is made from CPM S3V steel. And they did so for a good reason. This type of steel is currently one of the toughest and most robust types of steel on the market. As a result, it is an excellent choice for undertaking demanding responsibilities. But not only this, the steel maintains its sharpness and is not too difficult to hone as well. You should be aware, that CPM 3V is not made only of stainless steel. Long-term exposure to salt, acid, and/or moisture can cause discoloration. If you are unlucky, even rusting on the surface. But, these are all things that, with normal use and a bit of maintenance, will not be a problem at all.
A Scandi edge is usually added to traditional Leukus to complete the look. Benchmade has opted for a grind that is almost the same for this particular model. There is an extra slicing-edge at the very tip.
A sheath made of solid leather ships with the Benchmade 202 Leuku. So that you can transport it without risk wherever you go, the sheath comes with a large belt loop and a second belt loop with a hole in it. There is a loop at the side of the sheath for stowing away a fire steel. Beating around the bush? This knife is all you need.
